Regulations
The ISMF is committed to upholding the highest standards of integrity, transparency, and respect across all areas of its work.
As the global governing body of ski mountaineering, recognised by the International Olympic Committee, the ISMF is responsible for ensuring that our sport is governed and practised in a safe, fair, and ethical environment.
Our integrity framework provides clear rules, policies, and processes to protect all participants — athletes, officials, organisers, and partners — and to strengthen trust in the way the ISMF operates.
Current Framework (in force until 30 November 2025)
The ISMF continues to apply the Code of Ethics as its guiding document for conduct and integrity matters until the entry into force of the new Integrity Code on 1 December 2025.
This Code defines the principles of honesty, respect, equality, and responsibility expected from everyone involved in ski mountaineering.
New Integrity Framework (in force from 1 December 2025)
Following the approval of the 2025 Plenary Assembly, the ISMF has introduced a new Integrity Framework to ensure full alignment with international standards of good governance and the expectations of the Olympic Movement.
The new framework for all ISMF officials, staff, athletes, and National Members was reviewed and endorsed by the IOC Ethics and Compliance Office.
The framework consists of four key instruments:
1. Integrity Code
Defines the duties of good conduct, loyalty, neutrality, and fair play for all persons bound by the ISMF Statutes.
It replaces the previous Code of Ethics and establishes the foundation for ethical behaviour and accountability across the sport.
2. Conflict of Interest Policy
Provides clear procedures to identify, disclose, and manage personal or organisational conflicts of interest.
It ensures that ISMF decisions are made impartially and in the best interest of the federation and its members.
3. Safeguarding Rules — Safe Skimo
Sets out ISMF’s commitment to provide a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment, free from harassment, abuse, and exploitation.
These rules protect all participants and include tailored safeguards for children and other vulnerable groups.
4. Disciplinary Rules
Establishes fair and transparent procedures for investigating and sanctioning breaches of ISMF regulations, including integrity, safeguarding, or conduct violations.
It defines the role and powers of the Disciplinary Commission and the right to appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

Reporting a Concern
The ISMF encourages all participants to report any potential breach of its Integrity Code, Safeguarding Rules, or other regulations.
Reports can be made confidentially and securely through the official ISMF Report Channel, managed by the ISMF Ethics and Compliance Office (ECO).
Oversight
The ISMF’s integrity and disciplinary matters are overseen by the ISMF Ethics and Compliance Office (ECO) — an independent body elected by the Plenary Assembly.
The ECO ensures compliance with the Integrity Code, manages investigations, and safeguards the independence and confidentiality of all proceedings.
