Olympic Solidarity Youth Camp in Spain, 24-30 March 2024: Last call!
Lausanne, 6 March 2024
It is a pleasure for the International Ski Mountaineering Federation (ISMF) and the Federación Española de Deportes de Montaña y Escalada (FEDME) to present the second edition of the Olympic Solidarity Training Camp. After the success of the first edition, organised in Zakopane (Poland), we are delighted to offer the possibility to all National Olympic Committees (NOCs) involved in the Winter Olympic Solidarity programs to take part on a Training Camp to be held at the heart of the Spanish Pyrenees. The goal of FEDME and the ISMF with this project is to give continuity to these series of training camps, providing the younger generations of skimo athletes more opportunities to develop themselves and the sport on these countries. By putting the spotlight on the younger athletes, an attempt will be made to create an ideal context for flourishing personal relationships, exchange of cultures and experiences, all cemented on the implicit values in Olympic Solidarity.
The camp will take place on 24-30 March 2024 in the city of Jaca, in the Pyrenees. Invitations to federations eligible for support from the Olympic Solidarity Fund have already been sent. However, the camp will also be open to other federations. The camp is intended for young people, athletes and future athletes with experience in national competitions, born between 2004 and 2008. For 5 days on the snow, Spanish trainers from FEDME will show, among others: how to prepare for sprints and other competitions, how to train, ski and organize training sessions. We hope that at least a dozen countries will meet in Spain. The cost of participation is 530 Euro per person, which includes accommodation (6 nights), full board, ski passes and a souvenir gadget. Trainings are covered by FEDME. Each country can send a maximum of 4 athletes and a coach. Travel costs are covered by participants.
FEDME and the ISMF are waiting for applications from federations not covered by OS funding until 14 March to be sent to mstrojny@ismf-ski.org.
Do not hesitate to contact the Project Managers for any questions.
