Empowering Women Leaders in Sport: ISMF Joins the ASOIF Women Leadership Workshop

The ASOIF Women Leadership Workshop, held from 25 to 27 October 2025 in Lausanne, Switzerland, brought together more than 40 women from both Summer and Winter Olympic sports for an intensive leadership accelerator. Led by EqualCareers and supported by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the programme forms part of the ASOIF Women Lead in Sport initiative, which aims to strengthen the presence and impact of women across international sport governance.

The ISMF was proudly represented by Giulia Avagnina, ISMF Administration & HR Manager, who was selected to participate in this high-level workshop. As ISMF’s longest-serving staff member, Giulia has played a central role in ISMF’s evolution, supporting its organisational growth and professionalisation. Her participation in the workshop represents both recognition of her leadership within ISMF and an important opportunity to continue building the federation’s internal capacity and inclusive culture.

“Taking part in this workshop has been an invaluable opportunity to grow, connect, and reflect on how we, as women in sport, can drive meaningful change. The sessions offered not only practical leadership tools but also a strong sense of community and shared purpose,” said Giulia Avagnina.

Through interactive sessions and personal development exercises, participants explored themes such as political intelligence, emotional resilience, communication, and influence, all essential for effective leadership within the international sport environment.

Following the workshop, participants will continue to engage through monthly peer-learning sessions designed to consolidate their skills, exchange experiences, and sustain a growing network of women leaders.
