Trym Dalset Lødøen represents the new generation of Norwegian ski mountaineering athletes, combining strong Nordic endurance with technical skiing skills developed from an early background in alpine racing. After competing in downhill skiing during his youth, he realized that endurance sports suited him better, while still allowing him to spend as much time as possible on skis. Discovering ski mountaineering provided the perfect balance — a demanding sport full of action, challenge, and constant progression.
Supported throughout his journey by his family, Trym steadily developed into one of Norway’s strongest emerging athletes. Qualifying for the Olympic Games stands as one of his proudest achievements, marking the realization of a long-term goal. Earlier in his career, winning his first ISMF Junior World Cup race in Valtellina Orobie in 2022 confirmed his potential at the international level. Another defining moment came at the Youth Olympic Games in 2020, his first major international competition, which played a key role in shaping both his ambitions and his approach to elite sport.
Known for his strong physical engine and consistent performances, Trym has secured multiple top-20 finishes on the World Cup circuit and continues to establish himself as an important part of Norway’s growing presence in ski mountaineering. His training routine reflects a balanced endurance-focused approach, typically starting with a long breakfast before heading out for a ski session, often in the challenging terrain and conditions of western Norway. Afternoons are divided between studying, recovery, and a second training session that may include running, cross-country skiing, cycling, or strength work.
Mentally, Trym keeps his approach simple, focusing on executing small tasks well rather than overcomplicating competition. Outside of racing, he enjoys all forms of endurance sport and spends much of his summer cycling and running, always staying connected to movement in the mountains.
Looking ahead, his goals include delivering a strong performance at the Olympic Games, enjoying individual competitions, and taking on iconic races such as the Pierra Menta for the first time. Above all, Trym hopes to share the joy of being in the mountains and to show that having fun remains at the heart of the sport.
