Marianne Fatton’s love for ski mountaineering began in Arolla, where she spent her childhood accompanying her parents as they trained for the Patrouille des Glaciers. Watching them compete in team races in Switzerland inspired her to try it herself. Her talent quickly became apparent, and the Swiss team introduced her to elite competition.
Marianne’s proudest achievement came in 2025 when she became Sprint World Champion in Morgins, winning in front of her home crowd. Her career has also been shaped by resilience in the face of challenges: a blank season in 2022, the tragic loss of friends in the mountains, and the Covid pandemic, alongside highlights such as her first elite World Cup victory in Bischofshofen (2019) and her overall World Cup title in 2020.
A typical training day for Marianne begins at 7 a.m., with sessions from 9–11 a.m., lunch at noon, a second training block from 16–17 p.m., and rest starting at 21:30. Mentally, she prepares by focusing on her physical readiness, knowing that being well-prepared gives her confidence on race day. While she admits she doesn’t particularly enjoy competition itself, her passion for ski mountaineering and the mountains drives her performance.
Beyond the sport, Marianne emphasizes giving her best at every competition and inspiring others to work hard and step outside their comfort zones to experience exceptional moments. She believes that the greatest gift is making someone smile and views every difficulty as an opportunity for personal growth.
