Iwona’s journey into ski mountaineering began with simple mountain adventures alongside her father. What started as shared experiences in nature soon evolved into a more competitive path, supported by her background in running and a growing passion for endurance sports. For Iwona, the mountains themselves became the greatest inspiration — the ultimate playground that continues to challenge and motivate her every day.
Her proudest achievement so far has been qualifying for the Olympic Games, a milestone that reflects years of dedication and perseverance. Along the way, many moments have shaped her career, but she believes sport’s greatest gift is personal growth. Becoming a mother and introducing biathlon to her son marked a turning point in her life, helping her discover a deeper inner strength and pushing her to commit even more fully to her athletic journey.
Training varies with the seasons, ranging from demanding double-interval days that test both body and mind to long, steady sessions in the mountains and easier recovery days. The variety keeps her motivated and constantly engaged. Mentally, she prepares for competitions by stepping away from the noise — going for walks alone, listening to music, and dancing, allowing herself to reset and reconnect with the joy of movement.
A fun detail few people know is that she travels everywhere with a “lucky” hair tie, a small ritual that has become part of her racing routine. Outside of sport, Iwona enjoys cooking for her loved ones and spending time with her son. Despite the demands of elite sport, she values everyday life deeply, seeing normal moments as both a hobby and a gift.
Her goal for the season is simple: take each competition as it comes, give everything she has, and never forget to love the process. Through her sport, she hopes to inspire others to believe that nothing is impossible — when one door closes, another always opens, as long as you never give up.
Grateful for the support she receives, Iwona emphasizes that while sport and achievements matter, the people around you matter even more. Born outside the mountains but shaped by them, she races not only for results but for the journey itself — the hard work, continuous learning, and the pursuit of pushing her own limits. Her ambition is not only to perform at the highest level, but also to show that there are many ways to succeed in sport and in life.
