From 13 to 19 December 2025, the heart of the Italian Alps became a meeting point for the future of Ski Mountaineering. Maso Corto, in Val Senales, hosted the 4th edition of the Olympic Solidarity Ski Mountaineering Youth Camp, bringing together young talents from around the world for an intensive week of training, learning, and competition.
Following successful editions in Zakopane (Poland), Jaca (Spain), and Nevados de Chillán (Chile), this year’s camp confirmed the strength and continuity of the Olympic Solidarity development pathway. Supported by Olympic Solidarity and coordinated by the ISMF, the initiative once again placed young athletes at the centre of the sport’s global growth.
Set at 2,000 metres above sea level, with access to slopes reaching up to 3,200 metres, Maso Corto offered ideal conditions for Ski Mountaineering. Excellent snow conditions throughout the week allowed for high-quality on-snow training sessions and culminated in a well-organised and competitive race, highlighting both technical progress and racing spirit.
The programme combined a broad range of activities: Ski Mountaineering training, sprint and mixed relay sessions, gym and swimming workouts, as well as educational moments dedicated to anti-doping and core sporting values. Beyond performance, the camp fostered cultural exchange, gender balance, and knowledge sharing among athletes and coaches from different nations: Australia, Chile, Greece, Turkey, Slovakia, Slovenia, Thailand, Romania, Georgia, and Poland.
Alongside the Youth Camp, a dedicated Technical Course for Coaches – IF Opportunities was also delivered, supported by Olympic Solidarity and officially approved by the Italian Olympic Committee, further strengthening coach education and capacity-building within the Ski Mountaineering development pathway.
The camp was delivered under the coordination of ISMF Development and Event Coordinator Monika Strojny, who led the implementation of the programme and worked closely with coaches, staff, and participants throughout the week.
A very special thanks goes to Aparthotel Maso Corto for hosting the entire delegation and providing an excellent base for the camp, and to the Ski Factory Maso Corto team for their outstanding ski service, which played a key role in the success of the on-snow activities. ISMF would also like to thank its partner Pelliot for the support provided during the camp. In line with Pelliot’s exclusive partnership with the ISMF and its strong alignment with our development values, the provision of lightweight jackets and beanies for all youth participants and coaches was highly appreciated and contributed to the overall quality and identity of the camp.
From the slopes to the gym, from training sessions to the classroom, the journey continues. With the support of Olympic Solidarity and Pelliot, young athletes train, compete, and grow — not only as ski mountaineers, but as members of the Olympic Movement. Seven days in Maso Corto were enough to confirm one thing: the future of Ski Mountaineering is already on the mountain.
